Summer Program for At-Risk-Youth

Summer Program for At-Risk YouthThis project was developed by the Department of School Social Workers at DSS in 2010 to provide school children in high risk home situations with opportunities to participate in healthy, age appropriate activities outside their homes weekly during summer months.  Activities include swimming, bowling, trips to the NC Zoo, river floats for teens, and ice skating among others.  The activities allow OC children to explore new experiences and to socialize with other kids their own age.  All activities are organized and facilitated by our exceptional social workers and volunteers. The program is fully funded by FRIENDS each year to cover transportation, lunch, supplies and activity fees.  Let us know if you would like to sponsor a child!
